ISO/TS 16949 – Quality Management for Automotive Suppliers

The average car consists of 12,000 individual parts – 80 per cent of them originate with suppliers like you. That is reason enough for all auto manufacturers to watch with eagle eyes over quality along the entire chain of supply.

Besides the specific requirements of the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), there is a common, internationally recognised basis: ISO/TS 16949. This is the technical specification for quality management for suppliers in the automotive industry and an absolute “must have” for any company seeking entry into this market.

Beyond that, ISO/ TS 16949 is an invaluable parameter for the optimisation of cost, time, and resources. Get yourself certified by DQS according to this standard in order to make transparent the quality of your performance, and to secure your market position.

Automotive: Global Market. Global Opportunities.

As a quality management system, ISO/TS 16949 has long become established. One of the reasons is formal in nature: the big car manufacturers have agreed to this standard under the umbrella of the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and simply require certification to confirm implementation.

No matter whether you are a small or medium enterprise or a large conglomerate, or if you seek to gain, maintain or expand market access – this certificate is your ticket for entry to the global automotive supply sector. And irrespective of your size and importance to the whole, as a certified company, you improve process capability and reliability throughout the entire value-added chain.

“Quality is the product of technology and mentality”

Here’s how it works

Essentially, ISO/TS 16949 is based on the process-oriented ISO 9001. However, the chronological sequence for the certification of a site is precisely mandated by the IATF. For example, Stage 1 of the audit process, the system analysis, must be performed within a specific time frame. The same applies to Stage 2, the closing report and deviation management. Re-certification also requires good time management to ensure continuous validity of the certificate. That is why we exercise utmost care in planning your schedule, and when organising your transfer audit to DQS.
