Private Security Companies
Management System for Quality of Private Security Company Operations - Requirements with Guidance
American National Standard
ANSI/ASIS PSC.1-2012 is a management standard for quality of private security company operations

The ICoC Association is responsible for certifying that the systems and policies established by Member Companies of the Association meet the ICoC’s principles and standards, and that they are undergoing monitoring, auditing, and verification, including in the field.

The PSC Standard Series takes that voluntary commitment a step further and requires companies, in order to be certified, to have adequately incorporated compliance with international human rights principles into their operating policies and procedures. The PSC.1 Standard is has been converted into a full international Standard, ISO 18788.

The mandate of the ICoCA

This is anchored in the ICoCA’s statutes, also known as the Article of Association with its mandate as follows:

  • Certification of member companies assessing whether an applicant company’s systems and policies meet the requirements of the Code of Conduct.
  • Monitoring of member companies’ compliance with the Code of Conduct based on established human rights methodologies.
  • Handling of complaints regarding alleged violations of the Code of Conduct.

This includes complaints that member companies’ grievance mechanism is not accessible, fair, or not offering effective remedies.
